  20. This ResEdit file contains all the resources to add color, system 7 "3-D"
  21. icons to the Config Mac PPP cdev.

  26. This ResEdit file contains all the resources to add color, system 7 "3-D"
  27. icons to the Mac PPP extension.

  29. PPP Dialogs

  32. This ResEdit file contains all the resources to add a slightly smaller,
  33. centered, connection dialog (with a color icon in it) to MacPPP.

  36. Colour Smilies Folder

  39. This folder contains all the files needed to add a color "smiley" icon to
  40. the upper left of the Config PPP dialog box.  This was inspired by John
  41. Cundall in England. He emailed me with the fixes and they sat in my inbox
  42. for quite a long time (I didn't have a color screen then).

  46. This ResEdit file contains John's set of colorized "smiley" icons.

  48. Color Hands Icons

  50. This ResEdit file contains my set of "hands" icons that I think look
  51. better :).

  55. To make Config PPP "see" these icons you have to modify the 'cdev' resource
  56. in the Config PPP file.  NOT RECOMMENDED FOR THE SQUEAMISH!  This file
  57. details the hex addresses to be modified.

  59. Color Icon cdev
  60. ---------------
  61. This file is for the squeamish.  It's a 'cdev' resource for Config PPP
  62. that's already been modified to "see" the color "smiley" icons.

  67. These are simple ResEdit hacks I (and others) did in a night to spruce up
  68. MacPPP.  They are simple and not in any way, shape or form guaranteed not
  69. to bomb the hell out of your Mac.  USE AT YOUR OWN RISK!

  71. Usage
  72. -----
  73.  
  74. I'm sorry but I really can't go into basic ResEdit here.  The process is
  75. pretty straight forward, simple copy and paste.  There are two things that
  76. are worth mentioning, however...
  77.  
  78. 1)  Always work from a backup!  One slip of the mouse and a file can be
  79.     rendered useless or worse (yes, there is worse).
  80.  
  81. 2)  When changing icons at the ResEdit level remember that the desktop file
  82.     must be rebuilt.  To do this hold down the option+command keys through
  83.     the startup process and you'll be prompted by system to rebuild your
  84.     desktop.  Also, read the Readme file that came with your system software
  85.     (you did keep it didn't you? :)).  It mentions certain conflicts with
  86.     Easy Open and system 7.5 that need to be avoided (it recommends using the
  87.     extensions manager to turn off all your extension 'cept Easy Open and
  88.     *then* rebuilding the desktop).
